Book: Overthinking Tapi Buat-buat OK By Aqila Masri

I finally finished reading "Overthinking Tapi Buat-buat OK" by Aqila Masri (Overthinking But Acted OK) , published by IMAN Publication, last October. And let's see what my thoughts on this one. First of all, my view is just as from an artist, crafter and blogger, and as a reader... When this book published, to be honest I got caught by the title. I didn't plan on to get it like seriously, because I have this feeling to put aside what I can relate to the title. The word - "overthinking"... But as time past, I started to have the image of this book in mind, and it's repeating. So I feel it and said, "I need to have it" with wondering what the topics will be within. It was more like a calling from the book I could say. And early last month - September - I got it. First of all, the cover illustration - pretty. I love how the choice of the style from the artist. The work is beautiful. And give the visual to what's the book about. At the same tim...

Some Thoughts: November

It's strange sometimes how I feel like time flies so fast specially at near end of the year. Now, already November. Interesting, isn't it? Writing this at midnight past 2am. Yes, I'm already sleepy but just feel like to blog out something I guess. I just done with my 2 days booth, which I'm selling my handmade accessories and jewellery - handcrafted by me, each one of them. And alhamdulillah this time was the best one. And I got home by Saturday night, and Sunday where whole body aches.. Still not getting used to it? I don't know but more to my body health conditions I think.. Currently, while booth or which I called "boothing" become my main focus, I too, still, reading books that I got for myself and current reading - "When You Think You're Falling: Holding On To God's Mercy To Keep Going" by Ameera Aslam, a Singaporean born author. And also, I started back with gardening few days ago, after long time... Well... Raining still the season...

Book: Mereka By Ariff Adly

After done with UNBOX, I decided to continue with MEREKA by same author. And I like more when come to it's cover artwork. Which a digital art. Bestselling too, MEREKA actually very unexpected for me and for most, it has something much darker compared to 2 other before. I read this on 3rd week of July. As usual, before I put my thoughts on this, I'm a visual artist-illustrator, crafter, a blogger, and all just my thoughts as a reader.. So.. Excuse my broken English or whatever I'm trying to put in words in here... MEREKA as in English, "them", in my view from the story plot, it should be "them". This one open not too slow and not too fast. The opening just as in reality of real life friendship, joking around, and life talking but with creepy things going on as usual, Ariff Adly... At first, this one makes me feel like this will be in reality without confusion and straightforward like that... I was wrong... In fact it somehow, put me in a place where I hav...

Some Thoughts: Lately In Book Genres

More than one month I've been noticing that I caught up with self-improvement books. Or books that tells how to deal with people while improving oneself. My attention to these books too, makes me realise how much I'm into biography genre, or books that author tells their story in honesty and the truth about who or how they are in life. Or what they've been dealing with as a human.. It's, somehow, make me feel connected.. As I said. My current reading is "Overthinking Tapi Buat-buat OK" ( Overthinking But Acted OK ) by Aqilah Masri. Maybe like 3, 4 days now.. And yesterday, since it's almost 5am writing this, I went to a mall with lil sis. To which while eating for breakfast (although it was almost 1pm at the time), I saw Popular Bookstore. After had our breakfast, we both went to it. My aim really on books from IMAN Publication - to which I don't know why - but in mind just full with "self care and self connect with whatever (self's body and m...

Some Thoughts: Current Reading

Few months past already, and I realised I started to slow down with my books. All from last year and this year. It's because I'm currently focusing more on my handmade accessories and boothing around KL. But still, I got myself couple of books recently and I started to notice, that there's books on pending - meaning, I already read but few pages only - and planning on to finish them all one by one. But I too noticed my taste on genres when come to this... My latest book and currently reading, "Overthinking Tapi Buat-buat OK" ( Overthinking But Acted OK ) by Aqilah Masri, published by IMAN Publication - caught me up. But more, this book did make me feel like I've been called to it before I got it.. Else than this, my second last reading which is a novel, is KACAU (Disturb) by Ariff Adly, published by FIXI. And the list is ongoing for this year:- 1. AWAN by Syafiq Aizat, FIXI (Malaysia) 2. GHAIB by Uja Hamza, FIXI (Malaysia) 3. Menjadi Dewasa by Prasanti Widyasi...

Book: Unbox By Ariff Adly

After GELAP, I decided to go for another by author Ariff Adly, a bestselling too, UNBOX. To be clear seriously I always curious about this book since I saw the cover when I know about FIXI for the first time. It's, curious... Like, I want to know what about it. Okayyy obviously, I read it as I need to but at the same time I just want to read it else than because I accidentally emailed FIXI for the call for illustrator but I don't mind if I'm not selected, and I just feel like "I'm going to read UNBOX after this one (GELAP)".  As you know, my thoughts just as I'm a visual artist, a blogger, and someone who read - a crafter too (yea I make handmade accessories..). So... I think I heard cover for UNBOX here is AI...? Not a fans, if it is. I hope new one will make it as the vibe of the title and not AI... And talking about the title, it's no need to explain more, it's the only English word among all Ariff Adly's books. And the title does set me to ...

Book: Gelap By Ariff Adly

I got myself all 4 book - novels, by author Ariff Adly on 1st July last month for a reason. All his 4 is bestselling by the way. FIXI's call for illustrator for the author's new covers got my attention, in early morning and I was in my bed, I just woke up and a bit sleepy... I was in so-so thinking and situation where I was feeling like "should I?", "try je?", and sorts. I was in between and ended up emailed my portfolio. And then I started feeling it was a wrong move, like I just put myself in a rush situation and feel like I want to unsend it but of course, too late. Because of this, I feel the need to get all of Ariff Adly's books. Which, become most that I can put side by side with movies - yep, me, I'm a fans of movies - that I know and some just in a top of my list I could say. Tadaaaa yesss.. Since all 4 in my hand that day, I was just, "which one that I should start with?". Since it all Bestseller FIXI, it does give me this moment w...

Book: Asrama 2 By Muhammad Fatrim

It was in February this year that I managed to get my hand on ASRAMA:2 by Muhammad Fatrim as for my commission by FIXI. Like I said in previous review and thought on the first one, for this second book too, I read whole of the book to work on the commission - for what the visual will be for the cover. Again. I would like to thank you to FIXI and the author, Muhammad Fatrim for the opportunity given. And I hope I did my best... Note, this is my solid thought on this book as an visual artist, blogger, and a reader only. Sorry for my broken English as I'm trying here.. So for the cover. The old one is on the left, and to be honest I feel scary a bit looking at it when I started to read it, and else it was does make me wonder what with the birthday cake? While the new one by me, I choose to go with different theme and it's originally in purple but the author wants it to be in blue - which I'm okay with, as long no changes in my illustration. And thanks to that, it does looks mo...

Book: Asrama By Muhammad Fatrim

On January this year, FIXI emailed me for a commission. It took me few minutes to accept the offer. As the result, almost a week later I received their books together with one I got commissioned for last year - my first one from other author. I got 4 books in total, 3 of them by another author. I know, I need to read them 3, started with the first one, best selling ASRAMA by Muhammad Fatrim. And here I'm going to put some of my thought about it. For first, I'm honoured to be part of the book, for the new cover I got commission for last January, and thank you so much for the opportunity FIXI.  This was my most challenging one when come to illustrate for a cover. And while in process, I got little bit pressure than before. Since it needs to be 'girls' vibe and feel but dark. I did my best although a bit I feel like if I can deliver it much better.. But, so far, most fans and FIXI's family like it, I'm ok with that. Alhamdulillah.. The new cover on the right in red...

Little Journey: 1st Of July

It's Thursday now. Considered it passed 12am, and it's 2am writing this. Last Monday, date - 1st July 2024. Time flies so fast, and I'm not the only one that feel this. I believe many too. And I went with my parents for their meeting with their client, while I just needed to go along since I have small plan for myself. For books.. Woke up at 7am, I decided to go with one of my bawal, my headscarf - which I bought months ago.... Wear for the first time, in July. Not my first bawal, but for the design is. Monday, who likes it, like. But some who don't, don't. I like all. Last Monday was still sleepy for me but I got my sleep for few hours. We headed straight to the meeting first thing first, which far from our home. That's why I woke up at 7am just to get ready for the day. I decided to follow because I needed to get few books after accidentally on something sooo just take it as my gift or reward to myself. Meeting went like an hour, usually for this client. Then ...

Book: Ajaib By Syafiq Aizat

On Saturday's late evening, I just had this feeling on trying with new book. A novel. I got it when I went to PBAKL 2024 on 1st June. Yea, early this month. But decided to start reading it last Saturday. This one comes in a box set - AJAIB Universe, by Buku FIXI, the publisher. With another 5 books, sequels to this one, Ajaib. Before that, I'm an artist who's drawing, illustrate. Highlighting that all my comment on this book, novel just from a view of an artist, and a blogger, a reader - not from language field specifically. So my apologies if there's mess up with my English and the comment or review for this one.. AJAIB, the title. To me, at first, I got this vibes of not a horror or thriller on this. But more like "glittering-magical" kind of vibe. And I don't even know the author, until few days before I decided to go to PBAKL 2024, where he played with another FIXI's box set that I commissioned for the covers of another best selling author of FIXI....
